The space is built for anyone who walks in, not necessarily a Buddhist. It is a fresh design attempt that bridges ancient and colonial temple architecture with contemporary Sri Lankan design.
The Buddha chamber reflects the colonial influence that was prominent in temples built during the colonial era. Although there is no obvious visual reference, the brick wall design is inspired by the wahalkada of the Anuradhapura era (377 BCE to 1017 CE), particularly for its proportions and ornamentation.
